Atreus Keyboard

Partly from RSI, partly from ‘why not?’ – I decided to make a keyboard. It’s a great way to spend a lot of time and money.

See my build log on GitHub for more info about creation and assembly, as well as some files to make your own case. I bought the blank PCB from Profet Keyboards, because I decided soldering lots of surface mount diodes on a ship was a great idea.

The image above has custom keycaps I “designed” and got printed at WASD Keyboards. One benefit of this was I had Ctrl & Alt key with correct text orientation but also comfortable row angles for the various keys that were moved about from standard positions. …Until I changed my mind on the keymap a few days after getting them.

Not pictured are some other random designs – I tried on the bigger keycaps. Calvin & Hobbes’s night sky didn’t turn out great, but printing the Nautilus on a shift key worked fairly well. Overall the keycaps were ok, a bit thin but good enough.
